    The “Kormochari Kalyan Board” is a government organization that works for the welfare of the government employees. This board needed a iconic 30 storey building to have their office and also spaces that can create economy for the board. Concept of the design was to make vertical green spaces and terraces that can hold greens. The site is located in Dilkusha , Motijheel which is a major commercial zone in Dhaka. Surrounding of the site has multiple landmarks around it such as the national mosque Baitul Mukarram and the national stadium. The idea of the design was to keep the podium accessible for the crowd of the site surrounding and to incorporate accessible terraces to have breathing spaces on the office spaces .

    Stronger together: National Sports Complex for differently-abled people

    In our society, differently abled people are often marginalized and experience depression. This has now become a significant issue for society that needs to be addressed and solved collectively. We can provide opportunities, such as jobs, proper education, and sports, to enhance their future. In this context, the Ministry of Social Welfare under the Public Works Department recognized the necessity to establish the first National Sports Complex specially for those differently-abled youth. The total area of the site is 15.5 acres. The site is located in Bank Town, Savar, which is quite accessible from all other cities, as well as the capital, Dhaka, and it's a river-facing site. With this sports facility, differently abled individuals will get education, vocational training, medical, accommodation, and other facilities. It will serve as a hub for promoting Paralympic sports around the country. For design purposes, we must ensure the design process for those specialized individuals with all their specialized needs.

    The rapid expansion of higher education in Bangladesh has created a need for modern, accessible, quality and sustainable university campuses. To meet this demand, Dhaka Ahsania Mission established a private university called Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in 1995. However, its current Tejgaon campus faces several challenges. It's too crowded, there is no space to expand, and some of the facilities and programs are obsolete. To solve these issues, AUST is going to set up a new campus in Ashulia Model Town, Savar. The new campus will be advantageous to students as it will allow them to learn more, interact more with industry, and be more sustainable in the years to come. The new campus will be 13.10 acres in size including new academic programs, advanced labs, student housing, and eco-friendly features. The goal is to create a better learning environment, encourage industry connections, promote sustainability, and help the local economy. The design uses site studies, local and international examples, and existing regulatory guidelines.

    Indoor sports complex, Shibchar, Madaripur

    This thesis explores the design of an Indoor Sports Complex located in Shibchar, Madaripur, Bangladesh, envisioned as a dynamic urban solution to support the area’s rapid urban development. The complex integrates a range of facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, multi-sports arena, gym and yoga center, tennis and badminton practice grounds, and a traditional sports arena accompanied by a café, merchandise shop, and administrative block near the vehicular entrance. Prioritizing pedestrian movement, the design emphasizes accessibility and human-centered spatial experience. Contextual considerations—such as climate and site characteristics—guided key design decisions, including massing, zoning, and building articulation. The zoning and massing strategies were employed to generate engaging and interconnected interior spaces. Furthermore, the structural system was deliberately designed to ensure both functional stability and architectural expression, contributing to the building’s visual identity. This project demonstrates how thoughtful integration of form, structure, and context can contribute to sustainable and inclusive urban development.

    Bangladesh Handloom Board Complex

    Bangladesh’s handloom tradition is an intrinsic part of its cultural and socio-economic identity, deeply interwoven with the livelihoods, artistry, and heritage of rural communities. However, this timeless craft now stands at a crossroads due to industrial competition, lack of infrastructural support, and diminishing generational continuity. The proposed project “Bangladesh Handloom Board Complex” initiated under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, aims to create a vibrant institutional and cultural hub to safeguard, promote, and modernize the nation’s handloom heritage. The design envisions a sustainable complex that integrates administrative, educational, and exhibition facilities, alongside research and training centers, weavers’ studios, and public interaction zones. By providing a dynamic interface between artisans, researchers, and the public, the complex will serve as a catalyst for innovation and economic resilience while celebrating the handloom’s legacy as a living cultural expression of Bangladesh.

    Technical and Vocational Education and Training plays a vital role in developing a skilled workforce and supporting the socio-economic growth of Bangladesh. With the rapid technological advancement and increasing competition in the labor market, the demand for technically skilled professionals has become more critical than ever. In response to this need, the Government of Bangladesh initiated the project “Polytechnic Institutes in 23 Districts” to expand access to technical education in underserved regions. This project is based on the architectural design proposal for a Polytechnic Institute in Panchagarh, one of the northernmost districts of Bangladesh where no government polytechnic institute currently exists. The project is located at Kholapara, Panchagarh Sadar, on a 5-acre site adjacent to a major highway, ensuring accessibility while maintaining a calm, semi-rural environment conducive to learning. The design aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and community-oriented campus that integrates academic, administrative, residential, and recreational functions within a cohesive master plan. Inspired by traditional Bangladeshi courtyard architecture, the proposal emphasizes open green spaces, shaded corridors, natural ventilation, and climate-responsive design strategies to enhance user comfort and environmental performance. The institute accommodates four diploma programs which are Food Processing and Preservation, Jute Production, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Light and Sound; along with workshops, laboratories, student hostels, staff residences, and supporting facilities. Ultimately, the proposed Polytechnic Institute in Panchagarh is envisioned not only as an educational facility but also as a catalyst for regional development. By fostering skill development, employment opportunities, and social inclusion, the project seeks to contribute meaningfully to local and national economic growth while promoting sustainable architectural practices.

    Oboshor: senior citizen health care and hospitality centre, Sreemangal, Sylhet

    Growing elderly population of Bangladesh is challenged with a severe lack of facilities that support the physical, mental, and social well being of senior citizens. This study proposes ‘Senior Citizen Health Care and Hospitality Centre (OBOSHOR)’, a 5.6-acre model campus in Sreemangal, Sylhet. It is an evidence-based elderly care center with biophilic concepts. The research studies global age-friendly design trends and national demographic trends, assesses similar projects, and evaluates the site's lush topography and humid-subtropical environment. The insights obtained from this research proposes a spatial program that converts hospitality ethics and therapeutic commendations into architectural programs. A compact nursing and clinical core, short-term guest suites that promote family interaction, residential wings for semi-independent seniors, and a therapeutic landscape with horticulture beds, outdoor activities, and shaded walking loops are all interlaced into the proposed scheme. Research shows that combining nature, hospitality, and healthcare can enhance elderly health outcomes, promote independence, and lessen social isolation. Redefining ageing as an active and respectable life stage that architecture can support, OBOSHOR provides a replicable, climate-responsive standard for elder care in Bangladesh.

    আরণ্যক: a center for mangrove adaptation and learning, Koyra, Khulna

    Rising climate risks and frequent natural disasters are threatening both the mangrove ecosystem and the communities that depend on them along coastal Bangladesh. The project ‘আরণ্যক-A Center for Mangrove Adaptation and Learning’ proposes an architectural response to this urgency. Located at the edge of the Sundarbans, the world's largest contiguous mangrove forest and a UNESCO heritage site, the design investigates how architecture can provide an adaptive, resilient framework to support research, education and community participation in mangrove conservation and ecological restoration. Addressing both ecosystem degradation and the increasing disaster vulnerability of coastal communities, the project integrates elevated form, sustainable materials, and disaster-resilient infrastructure led by computational simulations that assess wind load and hydrodynamics, and to withstand extreme climate conditions. Flexible spatial zoning and functional mapping allow research, training and community spaces to operate flexibly as well as to transform seamlessly into shelters during emergencies. Using a qualitative research approach and supplemented by quantitative assessments, the study validates the design’s performance and resilience. The outcome is a replicable dual-purpose model for the coastal region, demonstrating how architecture can simultaneously enable knowledge, conservation and refuge within the dynamic context of the Sundarbans and similar deltaic landscapes.

    Design of a five star hotel, Cox’s Bazar

    The proposed 5 Star Hotel at Laboni Beach, Cox’s Bazar, is planned as a major coastal hospitality project proposed by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation to support the growth of high end tourism in Bangladesh. The site is located within the hotel motel zone and directly faces the Bay of Bengal, making it one of the most attractive locations for a luxury resort development. This project aims to create a comfortable and memorable experience for guests by closely connecting the building with the sea, landscape, and climate. The design follows a guest centric approach where spaces gradually unfold from public to private, allowing visitors to enjoy sea and Hill views, natural light, and open-air environments throughout their stay. Climate responsive design strategies such as natural ventilation, shaded balconies, green terraces, and water features are used to improve comfort. The hotel is not only designed as a place for accommodation but also as a destination where people can relax, socialize, and experience the biggest sea of the world. Overall, the project aims to promote sustainable tourism while contributing positively to the urban and economic development of the area.

    Bangladesh’s long-standing relationship with water has shaped its economy, culture, and identity, giving rise to a rich maritime heritage. Positioned along the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram, the Marine Fisheries Academy stands as a key institution dedicated to nurturing skilled professionals in marine fisheries, nautical studies, and marine engineering. However, with evolving global standards in maritime education, the need for a modernized, sustainable, and context-responsive campus has become essential. The proposed project aims to redevelop and enhance the Marine Fisheries Academy complex under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. The primary objectives are to create a modern, climate-resilient, and well-integrated academic environment that strengthens both educational and community engagement. The project includes new academic and administrative buildings, simulation labs, workshops, dormitories, and a fish museum while ensuring visual and physical connection with the waterfront. Emphasis is placed on sustainable design strategies, flood-resilient structures, and green landscape integration to reflect harmony between architecture and the maritime environment. Ultimately, the project envisions a revitalized academy that not only supports advanced maritime training but also symbolizes Bangladesh’s enduring relationship with its waters fostering innovation, discipline, and environmental stewardship for future generations of seafarers.

    Begum Rokeya Memorial Complex: thresholds of memory and resistance

    The Begum Rokeya Memorial Complex stands as a significant architectural and cultural tribute to Begum Rokeya, a pioneering feminist, writer, and social reformer of Bengal. This research explores how architecture can embody and express feminist ideals, social empowerment, and educational advocacy through spatial narratives. By analyzing the historical and cultural context of Begum Rokeya’s life and work, the study investigates how the design of the complex creates a meaningful journey that connects visitors to her legacy. The proposed design integrates programmatic zones—such as the Feminism Court, Literature and Education Court, and Social Work Court—culminating in the ancestral home, symbolizing personal and collective ascension. The study also examines site relationships, vernacular influences, and the integration of sustainable design strategies to honor local identity while fostering inclusive community engagement. Ultimately, the paper demonstrates how architecture can act as a medium for storytelling, memory preservation, and social change.

    The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Rajshahi University is more than just an edu- cational space: it is a place where creativity should grow freely, where art, nature, and people connect. But the existing condition of the faculty does not truly support that vision. The studios are not well connected to the outdoors, the waterbody is inactive, circulation is not smooth, and there is a lack of open and interactive spaces where students can feel inspired and relaxed while working. That is why this project is all about Integrated Co-existence: Embracing Nature, Creativity, and Learning Spaces. I wanted to design a space where learning does not stay inside walls, but flows naturally with the environment. Inspired by the curve of the site’s waterbody, I shaped the buildings around courtyards, used soft organic forms and added elements such as amphitheaters, ghats, shaded outdoor working spaces and interactive paths, so that students, teachers, and even neighborhood children can connect with each other and with nature. This design is not only for academic purposes, but for cultural revival as well. I believe that art education should remain rooted in our heritage as we move forward, and this The project reflects that. It is a space where creativity can breathe, grow and truly belong.

    This paper explores the strategic transformation of Noapara River Port from a traditionally manual, single-function infrastructure into a dynamic, multifunctional economic and civic node. Situated along the Bhairab River and embedded within the Jessore–Benapole–Mongla trade corridor, Noapara holds latent potential as a regional logistics and cultural center. The proposal envisions an integrated development model that couples port modernization—through automation, mechanized cargo systems, and efficient intermodal connectivity—with inclusive public-oriented facilities such as worker housing, business accommodation, agro-industrial markets, and skills training centers. The intervention aligns spatial design with local heritage, industrial identity, and community needs. The project positions Noapara not only as a logistics gateway but also as a catalyst for broader urban regeneration—bridging trade, livelihood, and public life. In doing so, it reframes the river port as an infrastructural and socio-economic anchor in support of Vision 2041 and sustainable development goals.

    The initiative “দি শারী: Survey and Settlement Training Academy, Savar, Bangladesh” seeks to create a thorough institutional facility that improves professional skills in digital land survey and settlement methods. The project aims to establish an academy that combines academic, residential, and administrative elements within a framework that is sensitive to environmental concerns. This initiative is a response to the increasing national demand for effective, technology-based land management. The design strategy aims to reinstate the ecological features that have been lost from the site, while keeping interference with the existing natural landscape to a minimum. The project investigates sustainable design principles that merge contextual responsiveness with functional efficiency through comprehensive site analysis, literature review, and case studies—such as the BRAC Training and Research Centre in Faridpur and the Viettel Academy in Vietnam. The design concept prioritizes the preservation of mature trees, the reinstatement of natural water patterns, and the upkeep of the community playground as a hub for social and cultural activities. The result illustrates how institutional architecture can integrate ecological restoration with modern technological advancement. Climatic comfort and long-term sustainability are ensured through passive design strategies, the use of local materials, and context-oriented spatial planning. In the end, দি শারী—translated as “the one who shows direction”—represents a progressive architectural vision that aligns with environmental stewardship, social inclusivity, and the digital transformation of land management in Bangladesh.

    The National Museum of Science and Technology in Agargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh has been redesigned with a vision of creating a vibrant urban interface ,a living civic threshold where society and science meet. The project reimagines the museum as an open, accessible, and socially engaging space that blends in perfectly with Dhaka's urban fabric, going beyond the notion of a contained institutional edifice. The museum endeavors to become a hub for education, social interaction, and community involvement in a place with public areas and cultural connections. The proposed architectural concept is envisioned as a dynamic journey of scientific exploration, guiding visitors through a series of interconnected zones dedicated to inquiry, experimentation, and innovation. The spatial layout, circulation patterns, and sensory transitions are intentionally crafted to reflect the stages of scientific investigation where curiosity initiates a process of discovery and insight. Prioritizing contextual sensitivity, ecological responsibility, and immersive design strategies, the project aims to create environments that are both instructive and engaging. This thesis investigates how architectural design can reconceptualize the conventional museum into a vibrant urban forum for exploration and exchange, fostering connections between scientific understanding and the rhythms of everyday life in Bangladesh

    Anuprastha- a school for AKH group employees' children, Savar

    The School for AKH Group Employees' Children is intended to cater for the children of factory workers of Savar, Dhaka, with a safe, interactive and climate-responsive learning environment in an industrial context. The project is a combination of principles absorbed from the precedent case studies that focus on natural light, ventilation and child-friendly circulation. The 09 acre campus consists of academic, administrative, multipurpose, health & wellness, and support facilities, with some 60 % open space and recreational facilities. Classrooms are designed for 30-40 students to allow for activity based learning while courtyards, shaded walkways and green courts add to environmental comfort and social interaction. The structure of the school ensures security of access, clarity of zoning and functional integration with the surrounding factory, allowing easy work place-adjacent childcare. The design represents a holistic, child-centred approach which balances educational needs, safety and environmental sustainability in an industrial setting working in close proximity.

    The Sylhet Divisional Museum is conceived to be an experience of the journey to explore the Sylhet culture, history, and scenery, as a living. The project is based on the idea of Heritage, Community, and Economic Development, and this means that they are going to establish more than a museum; the plan is to establish a relationship between people, place, and progress. The Heritage characterizes the interior experience of the museum, in which the adoptable path leads one through a sequence of galleries marking the flow of the history of Sylhet, Sylhet in nature, and Sylhet in its identity. The Community quality gives the museum an opportunity to stretch out to the community level as there is an open plaza and seating area to allow the locals to interact outside the boundaries of the exhibition rooms and to transform the space into a commonplace hub. Lastly, the Economic Development layer anticipates the museum to be a driving force of the underdeveloped Kumargaon region promoting tourism, local entrepreneurship, and urbanisation. Balanced in a combination of these concepts, they combine and create an architectural story, along with praising the history of Sylhet, yet providing a way forward to its future - a community, where the past is not only recorded but embodied in a space, in motion, and linking throughout itself.

    Rabindranath Tagore saw a world in which man, nature, and knowledge would be in perfect balance, which became the basis of his art, education, and style of living. His faith in freedom of thought and learning in nature still triggers spaces that are beyond time and borders. The project is based on this vision, and an architectural environment should be created where his principles of simplicity, spirituality, and coexistence can be expressed. The design is located at the historic house of Mrinalini Devi in Dakkhindihi, Phultala, Khulna and invites the site to establish the tangible heritage of the site and absorb the intangible cultural spirit of the site. The built form, water, and landscape through an interplay aspire to achieve the vision of Tagore of a living dialogue between heritage, humanity, and Mother Nature.

    The Modern Architectural Renaissance of Comilla Town Hall envisions transforming a 137 year old cultural landmark into a dynamic fusion of heritage and contemporary design. Standing at the heart of the city, this historic treasure has witnessed generations of community life, celebrations, and significant events. The project proposes innovative architectural interventions that honor the building's rich legacy while introducing modem functionality and sustainable solutions. Through thoughtful design strategies including sunken spaces, integration with historic ponds, and barrier-free accessibility, the project aims to create a vibrant cultural hub. The historic water bodies are reimagined as connecting elements, linking the townhall to its surroundings while preserving the site's ecological heritage. The design carefully balances preservation with progress, incorporating sustainable technologies and adaptive reuse approaches that respect the original architecture while meeting contemporary needs. This architectural renaissance celebrates Comilla's heritage through modern design principles, creating spaces where students, artists, and community members can gather, learn, and create. The project demonstrates how historic preservation and architectural innovation can work together to revitalize a beloved community landmark for future generations.
