Employee training and development: a study of HR practices at The Daily Star
(BRAC University, 2026) Jerin, Tasnim Hussain; Islam, Nazmul; BRAC Business School
This internship report reflects my three-month experience as an intern in the HR department of The Daily Star. Although the business officially began on January 14, 1991, when Bangladesh finally became democratic, the co-founders, Syed Mohammad Ali and Mahfuz Anam, with the assistance of other major businesspeople of Bangladesh, established new precedents in independent journalism and freedom of the press. The purpose of the report is to look at the present employee training and development in The Daily Star, constantly address areas of concern, and make suggestions according to the scholarly findings. The report will be made on the basis of primary and secondary data. Such primary data relies upon my observation and personal experience throughout the internship period at the company and the discussions that I had with my supervisor and training coordinator. The other data will be collected by use of secondary sources that will comprise the company website, the annual reports, newspaper articles, and articles in academic journals on the HR practices in the media industry of Bangladesh. According to the report findings, the current employee training and development process is innovative and involves such training platforms as an online learning system developed in-house, but it is quite ad-hoc due to the lack of resources to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and the high-speed nature of the news environment. The results have been exploited to present requisite recommendations on how the practices of the workers should be enhanced.

Service recovery perceptions of Aarong ecommerce customers
(BRAC University, 2025) Mrong, Zion Justin; Haque, Shamim Ehsanul; BRAC Business School
The present study examines the customer perception of service recovery towards the service failures and service recovery strategies of Aarong E-commerce. Aarong is a leading Bangladeshi lifestyle brand and has high reputation, though every e-commerce site is prone to customer service problems such as delayed delivery, misplacement of orders, failure in payment, and stock non-availability. To solve such issues, Aarong has implemented service recovery programs in the form of product replacement, store credit, price discount, and cash refund. While the majority of customers are content with these recovery efforts, some remain dissatisfied due to delayed resolution or inadequate communication. The report analyzes the customer feedback data to evaluate the impact of service recovery on brand attitude and customer loyalty. Findings suggest that although the majority of the customers have a favorable attitude towards Aarong, improving response time, communication, and problem-solving effectiveness will further enhance customer satisfaction. Suggestions are aimed at streamlining the process of service recovery, improving operational efficiency, and integrating proactive customer care to make Aarong competitive in the e-commerce market.

The impact of social media marketing on brand engagement: a study on motorcycle brands in Bangladesh
(BRAC University, 2026-04) Mohaimen, Abdullah Al; Hasan, MD Tanvir; BRAC Business School
The aim of this internship report is to observe how the different functions of digital marketing are associated to brand engagement, purchase intention, customer loyalty in the context of the Bangladesh Motorcycle industry with CFMOTO Bangladesh as a case. The report will be based on the practical internship experience of the Digital Marketing and Brand Communication Department and research topic is: “The Impact of Social Media Marketing on Brand engagement: A Study on the Motorcycle Brands of Bangladesh”. In today's world, Bangladesh's motorcycle industry is tough and digital consumer behavior is playing a significant role in the industry. Digital marketing has become a vital strategic media for influencing customers' opinion and buying intention as consumers are greatly depending on social media to evaluate products and communicating with brands. Encounters with practical aspects of the internship, mainly concerning campaign management, consumer interaction activities, CRM coordination, and social media communication, gave insightful lessons on consumer interaction and the impact of digital campaigning. This report comprehends an organization analysis of CFMOTO, Bangladesh with SWOT and Porter's Five forces Model in order to assess the company's competitive condition and company's business environment. The results of the study show that marketing activities have an influence on customer engagement and purchase intention, where ATL has a significant influence and BTL has a significant influence. ATL activations like Online Video Commercials (OVCs), social media campaigns and seasonal activations have proved to be extremely successful and effective towards creating awareness and digital reach. BTL activities such as showroom activations, test ride events and engagement campaigns, in contrast, produced a better experiential engagement and level of consumer trust. Rather, post-experience engagement–probably via customer stories, customer experience, and community engagement–had a stronger impact on customers' sense of loyalty and advocacy. Social media marketing can create good attraction and engagement with consumers, but it is also important for marketers to measure their customer experiences and build trust for long-lasting customers. Given the background of the scenario, the report states that the use of one or any other of these value adding tools separately would not make any sustainable position for the branding of a motor bike company in Bangladesh one should use the combination of all the three.

(BRAC University, 2026-01) Poran, Khondoker Shah; Haque, Mohammad Mujibul; BRAC Business School
This report examines the impact of Supply Chain Finance (SCF) on working capital management and operational efficiency at Akij Resource Limited (ARL). In the first chapter I have outlined my internship experience at ARL. Focussing mostly within the Treasury Department. I highlighted my responsibilities including preparing a fixed deposit register covering 220 FDRs across 16 banks and multiple SBUs along with my exposure to the HR team. At the end I have added the challenges I faced during the internship and recommendations for the future interns as well. The second chapter presents an organizational overview of ARL. Which covers its history, mission, vision and management practices. It analyzes key functional areas such as human resource, compensation structure, organizational hierarchy and marketing practice. To evaluate the financial performance we have evaluated 2023-2024 balance sheet and Cashflow. Including Dupont analysis and accounting practices of ARL. Industry positioning is assessed through SWOT and PESTLE analysis. The final Chapter focuses on Supply Chain Finance from both the financial and supply chain perspective. It reviews the SCF environment in Bangladesh and identifies the challenges faced by ARL. A proposed research framework has been shown based on bargaining power and cumulative Transaction Value (CTV) to recommend suitable SCF tools. The findings show that SCF has improved working capital efficiency by reducing the CCC and operational efficiency while maintaining the clear CIB profile. Overall, this internship gave me the opportunity to apply my academic knowledge in the real world financial environment. Along with it gave me an insight into how a treasury department works in a large group. Page

Audit procedure in Bangladesh: a case study on Akhter Abbas Khan & Co Chartered Accountants
(BRAC University, 2026-02) Mou, Jannatul Mawa; Debnath, Nitai Chandra; BRAC Business School
This report presents the practical results of the twelve weeks internship experience in Akhter Abbas Khan and Co. where academic principles of audit were combined with the professional practice in the form of application of ISA and IFRS. The tenure was an active involvement of the external audits of Rajib Agro Chemicals Limited (RACL) and Rajib Agro Business (Pvt) Limited (RABL). The main areas of focus were transaction vouching, bank reconciliations and verification of fixed assets in line with IAS 16, which would provide a holistic picture of the audit lifecycle in the agricultural industry. The audit procedure was by the use of a risk-based approach, which involved planning, risk assessment, and substantive testing. More attention was paid to the high-risk spheres such as revenue cut-off according to IFRS 15, inventory valuation according to IAS 2, and the verification of cash-in-hand. The result of such procedures was a Qualified Opinion about RABL regarding fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. The finding of such determination became necessary due to nonconformance to the standards of inventory valuation, absence of agreements on an account payable basis per party, and scope restriction concerning unverified year-end cash balances. Systemic professional issues, including the subjectivity of auditor judgment and sampling method constraints, are also analyzed in terms of the engagement. In order to improve the quality of audits, in the future, the report suggests a more rigid following of the standard work program and more focus on the independent third-party evidence rather than the management representations. These results highlight the importance of the auditing career in making corporations transparent in Bangladesh and they offer a solid technical basis of developing further career in Chartered Accountancy.

The primary objectives were to understand how traditional learning systems have adapted, evaluate the effectiveness of online education, and assess parental and student attitudes toward these changes. The research methodology included primary data collection through surveys and interviews with students, teachers, and parents, as well as secondary data from existing literature. Impact of trade settlement delays on the financial performance of listed brokers in Bangladesh
(BRAC University, 2026-01) Jiad, Sifat Alam; Arif, H.M.; BRAC Business School
This internship report focuses on analyzing and examining the impact trade settlement delay has when it comes to the financial performance of listed brokerage houses in Bangladesh. This report mainly uses a quantitative approach by using the dataset of 10 years of 10 brokerage houses in Bangladesh to understand how settlement delays affect cost efficiency, profitability, and borrowing behavior of the brokerage houses. Since the data regarding settlement delays was not publicly available, measures like liquidity stress, borrowing spikes, and delay-induced cost indicators were used as proxies in order to capture the mechanisms of delayed settlements. Through analyzing the results of the study, it can be said that trade settlement delays are a structural risk factor for the listed brokerage houses of Bangladesh. This especially applies to brokerage firms with weak liquidity or inefficiency in asset utilization. Brokerage houses that are exposed to higher liquidity stress tend to show lower asset and equity returns, a higher costto- income ratio, and increased dependency on short-term borrowing. These effects on the brokerage houses seem to increase even more when there are periods with higher trading activities, which amplify the financial vulnerability of these firms. The study concludes that improving settlement is critical for enhancing firm resilience.
