Abstract

The report provides an in-depth view of the financial and operational performance of Bangladesh Finance PLC, with a particular focus on the key themes titled as Impact of Earnings Per Share (EPS) and Net Asset Value (NAV) on Share Price of Bangladesh Finance PLC. It examines the relationship between Earnings Per Share (EPS), Net Asset Value per Share (NAV), and the year-end market price per share of Bangladesh Finance PLC. It also shows that EPS and NAV changed significantly over the years, while share price also moved sharply, indicating that investor valuation was influenced by both profitability and underlying net assets. The findings suggest that stronger EPS and NAV were generally associated with better market performance in earlier years, but the relationship weakened during periods of heavy provision charges, negative profitability, and equity erosion. In particular, the sharp drop in EPS, negative NAV in some years, and large fluctuations in market price reflect instability in investor confidence and valuation expectations. Therefore, this chapter opines that while EPS and NAV will, and have, had share price determinants in Bangladesh Finance PLC, they work habitually, and valuation will be tuned to profitability shocks, the capital adequacy crunch, the credit crunch, and positive feelings in the market. These findings suggest that Bangladesh Finance PLC will continue to perform in a manner that will demand to be valued on the market, more so, when the company is operating with assets of higher quality, more net quality assets, and more stable net earnings.
