Abstract

This report outlines a study on psychological contract violation (PCV) from the perspective of the employees of the lifestyle retail brand, SPLAYD in Bangladesh. Chapter 2 discusses the company's history, operations, marketing, finance, human resources and the market environment. It shows that SPLAYD is a young retailer, a brick-and-mortar retailer, and a retailer that is facing extreme pressure and financial difficulty. This chapter deals with the reactions of workers when their work expectations are not fulfilled. It examines PCV and its relationship with turnover intention, disengagement from work and job satisfaction. A quantitative survey is conducted of the employees of SPLAYD. If employees feel that the organization has defaulted on its commitments, their satisfaction will decrease, and they will be more likely to leave the organization, often because they have disengaged. The main part of this study is to help management improve employee satisfaction, retention and trust in the retail sector.
