dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to evaluate the serum levels of pro-inflammatory chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 4 (CXCL4) between obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients and healthy individuals. The study was conducted with a total of 376 participants, who were evaluated based on multiple biophysical, sociodemographic and clinical parameters. No variance was detected in all the parameters except BMI. The BMI was found to be statistically significant, but it lacked clinical relevance. Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) score demonstrated consistent and significant severity of OCD in between the two groups. Statistical analysis indicated a reduction in serum CXCL4 levels in the patients with respect to the serum level of the control, the findings were not statistically significant. Any possible involvement of CXCL4 in disease pathology could not be detected, CXCL4 demonstrates poor credibility as a biomarker in diagnosis of OCD. This study having good generalizability and dependability, had few limitations, including the single biomarker design.en_US
