Exploring teachers’ understanding and practices in assessing 5+ pre-primary age children of government primary schools

This study aimed to explore pre-primary teachers’ conceptual understanding of assessment, their assessment practices, and the challenges encountered during the implementation of the Pre-Primary Curriculum 2022 in government primary schools in Dhaka Division. A quantitative survey design was employed, and data were collected from 274 pre-primary teachers using a structured questionnaire through Google Form. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to interpret the findings. The results indicate that teachers demonstrate strong conceptual understanding of formative assessment principles and recognise the importance of recording and using assessment data to support children’s learning and development. However, implementation practices are uneven. While prioritising students’ joyful and active participation in learning, communicating students’ progress to guardians and giving positive feedback are regularly practised, systematic documentation using short narratives, planning based on play observation and learning needs are less consistently applied. Major challenges identified include large class size, time constraints in maintaining portfolios, and limited parental cooperation. The study concludes that although teachers are conceptually prepared to implement formative assessment, contextual constraints hinder full realisation of curriculum intentions. Policy support, reduced teacher-child ratios, targeted professional development, and strengthened parental engagement are recommended to ensure effective assessment practices at the pre-primary classrooms.

Metro Knitting & Dyeing Limited: A concern of Panam Group overview of six major departments

This report presents the 66-day internship I completed at Metro Knitting and Dyeing Mills Ltd., a concern of Panam Group, which started in 1987 as a house of ready-made garments (RMG) with their first knit composite manufacturing plant and now runs multiple apparel manufacturing plants with their textiles manufacturing, all-over printing, washing, embroidery, and logistics facilities. The group makes over 768 million garments each year and supplies big buyers like Zara, GU, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more. Metro itself produces around 6.4 million pieces a month, such as polo shirts, T-shirts, tank tops, trousers, hooded jackets & cardigans, athleisure wear, loungewear, men’s & ladies’ fashion wear, kids’ wear, etc., while following strict global rules for quality, safety, and environment. My internship was part of the PGD-KIM program at Brac University’s BIGD. I spent time in five main areas: 16 days in Dyeing and Dyeing Finishing, 16 days in Knitting and Knitting Quality, 10 days in Printing, 10 days in Production, 7 days in Marketing and Merchandising, and 7 days in HR and Compliance. I did real tasks every day, like making reports of full dyeing processes, batch cards, and quality inspections; following up on knitting and dyeing; making sample cards; collecting samples; working on printing labs; checking all cutting panels; and leading a final audit with no fails, CSR observations, job analyses, etc. The report links what I learned in PGD-KIM classes to factory life, such as writing clear emails to buyers, balancing lines, quality inspection with accuracy, and checking compliance. I also gave them many suggestions according to my observations and my knowledge based on my PGD course, including recommendations for improving efficiency in production processes and enhancing communication between departments. Overall, my time at Metro helped me develop strong skills in RMG and taught me to be accountable for my work, committed to stakeholders, and to adopt a sustainable approach to our environment, society, and business, which will help Bangladesh remain strong in world markets.

Critical evaluation of Interstoff Apparels Limited's industrial operations and product development

This study offers a thorough account of a three-month industry attachment at the Pandughar Group's flagship company, Interstoff Apparels Ltd. I worked in the Product Development department as an Assistant Merchandiser, where I witnessed the vertically integrated "Fiber-to-Fashion" operation. The study focuses on applying PGD-KIM curriculum competencies in a real-world composite production scenario, such as Industrial Engineering (KIM 202), HR Skills (KIM 101), and Quality Management (KIM 204). Important findings include how lead-time management affects manufacturing effectiveness and how 3D virtual prototyping might revolutionize the process. The evaluation emphasizes how Interstoff uses technology to uphold its "Zero-Defect" ethos. The paper ends with strategic recommendations for both personal and professional growth goals aimed at attaining entire factory management proficiency and industrial improvement, including predictive lead-time analytics.

Standard Group: Industrial attachment for postgraduate diploma in knitwear industry management

Standard Group is one of the largest & most popular garment manufacturers in Bangladesh, which was established in 1984. The company has diversified operations; its core strength lies in its huge capacity for Woven Garments, serving global giant brands such as GAP, H&M, Zara, and Tommy Hilfiger. Standard Group is a vertically integrated company. It has its own washing, printing, embroidery, and accessories production facilities. The company offers complete solutions under one roof for international buyers. This integrated approach, supported by advanced technology, strict quality control, and a workforce of more than 40,000 employees, enables the company to maintain high standards and meet global demands efficiently. The primary aim of this report is to provide a clear picture of how the woven manufacturing unit functions. It follows the complete journey of a garment — from fabric storage to cutting, sewing, washing, and final finishing — showing how each stage connects to ensure quality and timely delivery. This report is largely based on my practical experience during my internship. In the cutting department, I’ve observed how exactness & proper planning are essential to minimize wastage & ensure accuracy. On the sewing lines, I observed how effective line balancing directly influences workflow & productivity. In the washing plants, I acquired valuable insights into the process that gives the denim & chino plants their final charming looks & hand feel. Additionally, this report examines how Human Resource strategies are required to coordinate & manage such a larger workforce. In conclusion, I have reflected on how the theoretical concepts that we learned in the PGDKIM program were applied in this industry setting, allowing me to connect academic knowledge with practical experience in a meaningful way.

This report provides a detailed overview of my internship at Urmi Group, specifically within the Seamless Division. The primary objective of this internship was to gain practical industry experience to complement the PGD-KIM program at Brac University. During the internship, I worked across five key departments: Merchandising, Product Development, Production, Commercial, and Supply Chain. I gained hands-on knowledge in tech-pack analysis, sample development, production floor monitoring, and export-import documentation.The report evaluates how theoretical concepts like knitwear manufacturing and supply chain management are applied in a real-world vertical setup. It also identifies areas for organizational improvement, such as digital integration, and highlights my personal growth in technical proficiency and professional communication. This experience has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end operations of a leading knitwear manufacturer in Bangladesh.

Q Collection Private Limited: A study on the merchandising process and cross-functional operations at Q Collection Private Limited

This report is prepared based on my three (03) months of practical internship experience at Q Collection Pte. Ltd. This internship provided me with valuable practical knowledge about my assigned department as well as the overall factory operations of Q Collection Pte. Ltd. Q Collection Pte. Ltd. is one of the leading vertically integrated knit garments and textile industries in Bangladesh with modern machinery and advanced facilities. The company is committed to providing high-quality products and reliable service to its customers. Q Collection has a skilled and experienced team dedicated to ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction along with its large production capacity (Q Collection 2025). The organization operates through several departments. Each department has specific roles and responsibilities. During my internship, I closely worked with six departments and collected information on their working processes and management practices. However, my focus was on the merchandising department to understand how it coordinates and connects with all other departments. Through this internship experience, I gained extensive practical knowledge about different departments of Q Collection. This experience helped me to understand effective quality assurance management across the supply chain and how organizations reduce risks related to quality, health, safety, social responsibility and the environment. It also provided me with insights into productivity management, efficiency improvement, and proper utilization of machines, capacity, and resources. Overall, the internship allowed me to gain a clear and practical understanding of the complete merchandising process

Product development and sourcing strategy of C&A Sourcing Bangladesh

During my internship at C&A Sourcing Bangladesh within the Product Development & Sourcing (PDS) department, I’ve learned to connect academic theory with the practical application of this global retailer. I have learned to manage data for large to medium-sized stores. For example, handling the 300k scuba sweatshirt program, I have applied lean manufacturing to minimize the cost and ensure production precision. I analyzed the impact of sustainable materials (T2T Polyester), specifically observing how Circulose Viscose will influence both lead times and FOB pricing. This experience transformed my understanding of the supply chain, proving that minor adjustments in fabric consumption or marker efficiency significantly impact brand profitability. Ultimately, this role highlighted the vital intersection of sustainable production and C&A’s circularity goals. I leave with a sharpened ability to navigate high-pressure sourcing environments, ready to contribute to a more ethical, sustainable and efficient textile industry.

Palmal Group of Industries Limited: Operational practices and managerial learning in the ready-made garment industry

This report adopts an academic analytical approach of analysis based on a three-month internship training at Palmal Group, a leading export-oriented ready-made garment manufacturer located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This internship program provided cross-functional exposure across eight departments — Marketing & Merchandising, Design & Innovation, Production Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Compliance & Sustainability Human Resource Management Audit & Central Costing. Working across these diverse departments enabled the development of analytical, operational, and managerial competencies. The internship report begins with an introduction that includes the report overview, formatting details, and objectives of the internship. The second section describes the organization where the internship was conducted, providing background information on the identity, journey, and achievements of the Palmal Group as one of Bangladesh’s leading exporters. The third section outlines my internship activities and learning experiences across eight departments of the Palmal Group, through which I developed professional skills and collected data for this report. The fourth section presents analysis, evaluation, and critical observations made during the internship period. The fifth section summarizes the overall experience and key findings in the conclusion, and includes references. The report describes that the internship program enabled me to successfully link theoretical academic knowledge learned from a post-graduate diploma in knitwear industry management (PGD-KIM) with industry practice strengthening professional readiness and strategic understanding of Bangladesh RMG operations.

Gildan Bangladesh: Procurement procedure, supply chain management, HR practices, operations, and distribution management

This internship report summarizes the experience I obtained while interning at GILDAN Bangladesh as part of the Post Graduate Diploma in Knitwear Industry Management (PGD-KIM) program. This report details the knowledge and real-world experience I acquired during that time. This internship's primary goals were to get insight into the actual working conditions of the clothing business and to see how classroom theory is used in the workplace. Throughout the internship period, there were different types of organizational operational procedures, and policy was acquired. Several kinds of workplace experience have been clarified, including documentation, assisting with operational activities, maintaining records, and working with other departments. These exercises shed light on how different organizational units work together to ensure smooth daily operations and promote broad business objectives in the apparel industry. To provide an ordered and methodical presentation of the internship experience, this report is divided into four chapters. In chapter 1, a summary of the company is given, together with Gildan's history, background, vision & mission, goals & objectives, organizational structure, organogram, branches and departments, and products regarding the marketplace. The tasks and responsibilities completed during the internship are detailed in Chapter 2, describing how the factory operates day by day from raw materials to finished goods. Chapter 3 offers a critical assessment of the internship after emphasizing the knowledge and learning of different types of skills. And finally, chapter 4, the report's overall learning results are summarized, and the significance of the internship in advancing professional knowledge of the knitwear sector is discussed. All things considered, the internship provided valuable experience and knowledge of real business process principles in the RMG sector. I've learned about real professional office culture, interdepartmental activities, and organizational procedures thanks to this internship. The curriculum aids in the professional development of vital skills including problem-solving, communication, teamwork, time management, and others that are essential for a future job in the RMG industry.

Urmi Garments Limited: Operational department analysis in an apparel knit manufacturing factory

A division of the Urmi Group is Urmi Garments Limited. Eleven departments of Urmi Garments Limited, a well-known manufacturer that produces ready-made clothing, have collaborated closely with me. I worked as an intern from December 2025 to February 2026. I made an effort to understand how to deal with everyday obstacles and make wise selections during this three-month internship. I am emphasizing the primary sections of this report, which are: 1) An overview of the industry; 2) An explanation of how to finish tasks in the following areas: fire and safety; cutting, sewing, finishing; industrial engineering; merchandising; quality; sample; warehouse; production planning and controlling; and HR and compliance 3) Evaluation of Professional Skill Development and Curriculum Relevance 4) Concluding Remarks. The actions of the organization's departments are highlighted in this report. The report's primary goal is to show how academic assignments can be combined with practical industrial experience. It also documents the complex skills learned during this experience. Along with a dedication to sustainable manufacturing, I am also dedicated to advancing professional development and management excellence in Bangladesh's thriving garment manufacturing industry.

TRU Group: Operational procedures of various departments and recommendations for improvements

This report illustrates my internship experience at TRU Group under the PGD-KIM program. The main purpose of this internship was to understand how a textile and apparel company operates in practice and to connect my academic knowledge with practical experience. During my internship, I worked with all departments, including SCM, Marketing, HRM, Production, Commercial, and Business Development. This helped me understand how departments work together across the board. I understand that effective communication and coordination are crucial to achieving company goals. I also gain practical experience in supply chain management, sustainability practices, production risk, data management, and buyer communication. I discovered that historical data and prior experience help decision-making. So, a burning question arises due to the lack of proper data management and digital systems in this industry. I also notice some communication barriers among the departments, but teamwork helps address these issues without causing negative impacts. Furthermore, the company and the textile industry face some big challenges. These include tariffs, high employee turnover, foreign currency problems with L/Cs, and energy supply issues. On the other hand, there are some internal issues, such as centralized decision-making in family businesses, slow adoption of modern technology, and a focus on experience rather than being tech-savvy. To face future challenges, the industry must first address its internal issues. Then the company should focus on product diversification and innovation. It should produce more eco-friendly products using recycled materials, regenerated cotton, and organic fibers. Sustainable products are very important because global buyers now prefer environmentally friendly fabrics. The company should also provide employee skill training, encourage new ideas, improve planning, adopt digital systems such as an ERP, and explore new markets. Our government should also take the necessary steps to expand the industry's foreign market, including addressing energy, gas, and currency issues. Besides, tariffs are now a major concern for the textile industry in our country, especially for the USA market, as of early 2026. In 2027, the GSP advantage will end for the EU market, as the earlier government had already declared Bangladesh a developing country. Proper government policy on trade can eradicate the problem and create opportunities and sustainability for the textile industry. Overall, my confidence level is being boosted by doing this internship. It also increases leadership ability and understanding of the textile industry. It helped me connect theory with real industry practice and prepared me for future career challenges.

During my internship, which ran from December 2025 to February 2026, I learned how to overcome everyday obstacles and challenges. The following are the main sections that make up my report. Industry Synopsis, An explanation of the tasks completed in Planning, IE, Production, Quality Assurance, and Merchandising. Evaluation of internship work critically, Final Thought. This report aims to highlight the activities that take place in each department, their significance to the organization, the working methods and relationships among various functional departments, and the areas that could use improvement. I also emphasized how the internship helped me grow personally and learn new things. This internship report concludes by confirming that Crystal Martin Apparel Bangladesh Limited is a profitable, well-run company that is genuinely committed to both customer happiness and manufacturing excellence. DBL Group: Green manufacturing and sustainable practices in the knit garment industry

This report summarizes my internship experience at DBL Group. During my internship, I observed that the company wants to grow as a sustainable way and increase business worldwide. Its main goal is to improve operations, develop skilled manpower and build strong relationships with customers while maintaining sustainability. I was able to apply classroom knowledge and skills in several departments such as Merchandising, Planning, Industrial Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance and Human Resource Management. I have learned how samples are prepared and how buyers and factories communicate, Accurate production planning, calculate working time, production line balancing, rook cause and defects analysis, final inspection procedure and how labor laws are followed, etc. During my internship, I got the chance to develop my practical knowledge by assisting the team during quick changeover activities and supported them to complete the work faster. I also made a simple root cause analysis format to help identify problems more easily. During this time, I observed workplace ergonomics and took some skill development training sessions. From these activities, I learned how to review performance data, understand where problems occur and think about possible ways to improve the process. It helped me understand how small changes can increase efficiency and productivity in daily operations. I would also like to recommend some areas where the industry can improve efficiency and buyer satisfaction by using 3D sampling systems, quick changeover methods, automated machines, and AI-based defect detection. In the end, I sincerely thank the top management for the internship opportunity and appreciate my supervisor and team members for their guidance and support.

Masco Group: Optimizing knit garment manufacturing through systematic planning and lean IE practices

It is one of the largest knit composite establishment set up in Bangladesh, arranged with advanced machinery, techniques and equipment. To deliver excellent goods to its clients, Masco Group has an professional expert in quality and production staff in addition to a proactive business team. Reedisha Knitex Limited: A fully export-oriented knit composite garments factory

The primary objective was to move beyond the silos of individual departments and develop a systemic understanding of a vertically integrated textile giant. In the contemporary RMG landscape, excellence is not merely a product of machinery, but of the seamless synthesis between human capital and technical precision. By immersing myself in RKL’s high-performance ecosystem, I was able to bridge the gap between theoretical knitwear management and the tangible complexities of global supply chain demands. The scope of this study involves a critical cross-functional analysis of the following divisions: Marketing & Merchandising: Strategic account coordination and value-chain integration. Design & Supply Chain: From conceptual product development to raw material logistics. IE & Production Planning: Optimization of industrial efficiency and capacity scaling. Knitting, Dyeing, & Finishing: The technical conversion of yarn into high-specification fabric. Garment Assembly: Precision cutting, sewing, and rigorous export-quality assurance. Rather than providing a purely descriptive overview, this report evaluates the internal workflows and business strategies that sustain RKL’s competitive edge. It concludes with evidence-based recommendations designed to enhance operational agility and industrial sustainability. Ultimately, this report reflects the advanced analytical framework cultivated through the BRAC University PGD-KIM program, documenting a professional evolution from observer to a strategically-minded industry contributor.

RMG (Ready-made Garments) contributes the most foreign currency of all Bangladeshi sectors. Bangladesh is the nation that exports the most RMG after China. Over the past 40 years, Bangladesh's RMG sector has experienced rapid expansion and now ranks among the top global sourcing hubs for apparel. The majority of globally recognized apparel labels import their products from Bangladesh and market them under their own names. Bangladesh's popularity as a sourcing hub in the RMG industry is largely due to its lower costs compared to other garment-producing countries. Over the 40 years of its RMG sector, Bangladesh hasn't been able to develop any well-known global garment brands despite earning a large amount of foreign currency and having the resources to do so. But given that both the nature of the global market economy and the level of competition are gradually changing, this is the ideal time for Bangladesh to introduce its own international brands. This report is prepared based on my practical experience in different departments of TAPE A L’OEIL. This industrial training session helped me to have a practical idea about the different departments, factories of TAPE A L’OEIL, which has enriched my knowledge in different departments, except for my core responsibilities in my department. This report is prepared based on my observation and experience gathered from the company. The organization has many divisions and departments, but the internship focuses on the overall activity of myself, and I focused on the process of costing that we have to do regularly & convince customers as well as the process of negotiation.

This report has been prepared on the basis of a three-month practical engagement at SNOWTEX Outerwear Limited. The internship program provides me with valuable insights into the practical aspects of the readymade garment business and the production processes employed by the company. The initial section of the internship report provides an overview of the company. The following part presents a comprehensive description of the organization, including its historical context, mission and vision statement, range of products, and organizational structure. Additionally, it offers a concise overview of SNOWTEX Outerwear Limited. This section of the study provides the reader with contextual information regarding the identity of the SNOWTEX group, their extensive travels, and their significant endeavors in establishing themselves as one of the leading exporters in Bangladesh. The second section delineates my routine engagements inside various departments at SNOWTEX Outerwear Limited, namely the Human Resources, IE Department, Merchandising & Marketing Department, Production Management and Production Planning & Control Department . The third section of this study examines the process of analysis and evaluation, as well as the inclusion of critical observations that are submitted throughout the duration of the internship. Subsequently, a set of suggestions was created following a comprehensive evaluation of the organization and the process of establishing a strategic growth plan. The fourth section provides a comprehensive summary of the internship time, offering a concise picture of the total experience.
