listelement.badge.dso-type Item , Two switch three phase ĆUK regulated rectifier(© 2016 IEEE, 11/22/2016) Abedin, Amina Hasan; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A.Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringA three phase Vienna/Modular-Boost rectifier provides only boost voltage gain regulation using three single phase PFC controller to achieve power factor correction and input current waveform improvement. A Buck-Boost voltage gain regulated two switch three phase ĆUK AC-DC converter is considered in this paper with only output voltage feedback control. The proposed circuit has fewer active and passive components. Reduction is done on controlled switches and diodes of the power circuit and also on sensors, isolation and base drive supply circuits. The proposed three phase boost-buck PFC rectifier can easily be explained and analyzed on per phase basis. The concept of ĆUK DC-DC conversion can be applied on AC-DC converter operation to describe the circuit operation.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , Output regulated one-switch three-phase boost and boost-buck (SEPIC) PFC rectifiers(© 2016 IEEE, 2016-11-22) Abedin, Amina Hasan; Bashar, Khandaker Lubaba; Islam, Samia M.Naeemul; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A.Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringNew output regulated one-switch boost and boost-buck three phase rectifiers are presented in this paper. Proposed three phase ac-dc converters have power factor correction (PFC) and input current shaping facility in one power stage. Use of minimum number of control switch in each proposed circuit reduces conversion circuit components, drivers and drive isolation circuits, sensors and control circuits. The operation and performance of the circuits are illustrated by simulation and experimental results. Both circuits are robust in terms of operation, maintenance, control and satisfactory efficiency of conversion. Input sides of the converters being of boost topology, they are capable of being controlled like single phase boost PFC rectifiers. The converter with boost-buck voltage gain characteristic is derived from DC-DC SEPIC converter.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , A single phase SEPIC AC-DC converter with improved power factor and input current THD(© 2016 IEEE, 2017-02-13) Hossain, Mohammad Rubaiyat Tanvir; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A.Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringA new topology of single-phase SEPIC (Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter) AC-DC converter with low input current THD and high input power factor is proposed. Instead of using a single phase rectifier followed by a boost DCDC converter, or using a bridge rectifier with two diodes and two switches, the rectifier's input is chopped at high frequency during positive and negative cycles by a single bi-directional switch to get step-up/step-down AC-DC conversion. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input current of the proposed circuit with small input current filter is low. Input power factor and the efficiency of conversion of the circuit are high. No additional control is required to achieve the advantages.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , A modular one-switch three-phase Single Ended Primary Inductor (SEPIC) rectifier(© 2017 IEEE, 4/26/2017) Bashar, Khandaker Lubaba; Islam, Samia M.Naeemul; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A.Shoukat; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Uddin, Mohammad Nasir; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringAn input switch based modular Single Ended Primary Inductor (SEPIC) three phase AC-DC converter is proposed in this paper. The proposed rectifier has the advantage of step-up/down voltage gain with boost input stage. Input boost stage allows input current shaping accompanied by power factor correction. The topology will also provide possible capacitive isolation of input/output sides of the converter. The rectifier has minimum number of controlled switch, less number of diodes, fewer controller components and driver, isolators, sensors and heat sinks than other input switched three phase rectifiers. As a result, the proposed rectifier will be easy to operate, maintain, reliable in operation, light weight, compact and cost effective. The proposed three phase SEPIC rectifier is presented in this paper with its typical simulation and prototype's experimental results.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , Diode-bridge enclosed one switch three-phase power factor corrected (PFC) Ĉuk rectifier(© 2017 IEEE, 2017-04) Abedin, Amina Hasan; Uddin, Mohammad Nasir; Islam, Samia M.Naeemul; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A.Shoukat; Bashar, Khandaker Lubaba; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringA new one-switch three phase power factor corrected (PFC) rectifier is presented in this paper. The proposed 3-phase ac-dc converter is based on Ĉuk topology. Proper feedback control of the circuit can maintain high power factor and low input current total harmonic distortion (THD). Use of minimum number of control switch in the proposed power conversion circuit reduces components, drivers drive isolation circuits, associated sensors and control circuits. The operation of the circuit is described by simulation and experimental results. The proposed 3-phase Ĉuk topology based rectifier is reliable in terms of operation, maintenance, control and efficiency of conversion. Boost input stage of the proposed circuit makes the circuit capable of being controlled like a single-phase boost PFC rectifier. Due to Ĉuk topology based power conversion the converter provides boost-buck ideal input/output voltage gain relationship.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , Boost and buck topology based single phase AC-DC converters with low THD and high power factor(© 2011 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2011) Kabir, Md Ashfanoor; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Rahman, Dhrubo; Mustafiz, Rubiya Binta; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringTwo topologies of single-phase Buck and Boost AC-DC converters are presented. This switch consist of a unidirectional switch enclosed in two three phase diode bridges with bidirectional input and output terminals. A family of simple topologies of three-phase AC-AC converters using the true bidirectional switch is possible as direct extension of DC-DC converters having similar operating principle. Steady state analysis and simulation results are presented in this paper using the Buck-Boost topology as an example. Performance of the circuit has been found satisfactory with duty cycle variation. The proposed converter can be used for AC-AC line conditioning to overcome voltage sags, surges, and load fluctuations. Because the proposed converters employ only two active devices, they can reduce cost and complexity and improve system reliability.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , A single phase AC-AC boost converter with improved input power factor and THD(© 2011 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2011) Kabir, Md. Ashfanoor; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Mustafiz, Rubiya Binta; Islam, Muhammed Kamrul; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringA new circuit is proposed for single phase AC-AC conversion using Boost topology. Input Power factor, input current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and efficiency of the circuit are examined for the proposed circuit for different duty cycles. As the output is boosted PWM chopped in AC supply, the voltage gain of the converter has both Buck and Boost characteristics. A single bidirectional switch is used for power conversion and results show good performance. Analysis and simulation results for the circuit are obtained by using software simulation. The circuit can be used in low and medium power applications like light dimmer, speed control of fan motors and electric heater control etc. The main advantage of this new AC-AC converter is its superior power quality.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , A single phase buck-boost AC-AC converter with low input current THD and high input power factor(© 2011 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2011) Abedin, Amina Hasan; Kabir, Ashfanoor N M Enamul; Ahmad, Estiak; Rahman, Dhrubo; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringTwo new topologies of Buck-Boost single-phase ac-ac conversion are proposed. In one of the circuits a bi-directional switch with a single buck-boost inductor is used, whereas, in the other circuit a bi-directional switch with two separate buck-boost inductors are used. Both the circuits operate in buck-boost mode separately for positive and negative cycle of the supply. As a result the input current remains almost in phase with the supply voltage without any additional sensors and control circuit. It runs in free running mode. The input current becomes almost sinusoidal by the use of small input filter. Input current THD is very low and the input power factor is very high. The converters like other switch mode converters have variable efficiency with change in duty cycle. High efficiency is possible within a range of duty cycle.listelement.badge.dso-type Item , Three phase three switch modular Vienna, Boost and SEPIC rectifiers(© 2016 IEEE, 2016-07-14) Bashar, Khandaker Lubaba; Abedin, Amina Hasan; Uddin, Mohammad Nasir; Choudhury, Mohammad Ali A Shoukat; Department of Electrical and Electronic EngineeringVienna and Modular three phase Boost power factor correction rectifiers are similar in working principle and performance.
