dc.description.abstractAntibiotic resistance is increasing throughout the world and with time it is becoming more and more severe but the sources of the cure remains limited. Antibiotics losses their effectiveness with time and the necessity of getting new antibiotic becomes a dire need. In present day this antibiotic resistance has reached a certain level that many scientists are thinking that the “Pre-Antibiotic” era might return. The only way to solve this problem is to get new and novel antibiotics. Marine environment and less-explored or unexplored terrestrial environment holds the answer. The reason or the main objective of this study is to get effective antibiotic producing microbe from marine sources and unexplored soil sources. In this study soil samples were collected from the Sundarbans and water samples from the Bay of Bengal. After this the samples were grown in yeast malt broth as sub-culture process to get pure colonies after that we got 15 different colonies and they were named as sample no. 1, sample no. 2 and so on to sample no. 15. After that their growth was observed in nutrient agar, potato dextrose agar and in yeast malt broth too. Perpendicular streaking method was used for antifungal and antibiotic test. Only sample number 3 which is a soil sample showed both antifungal and antibacterial activity of normal to weak level. Other soil samples and all of the water samples did not show any activity.en_US
