Urban sports and recreational complex

Abstract

This thesis investigates the planning and design of an urban sports complex in Gulshan 02, Dhaka—a multi-purpose complex that aims to address the future demand for sports and recreational facilities within the city. As Dhaka's population continues to grow and the availability of open spaces decreases, the project attempts to establish a sustainable complex that provides indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, fitness centers, wellness centers, and community spaces. The proposed design is centered around ideals of inclusivity, environmental responsiveness, and urban integration. Through contextual analysis, programmatic evaluation, and cross-national case studies, this thesis proposes a model to improve physical well-being, social cohesion, and urban quality of life in a high-density metropolitan setting.
