Abstract

Juvenile Correctional facility/juvenile detention center in the system of justice, is an observation/correctional center where the juveniles are passed on after being processed in the juvenile court. A juvenile is anybody under the age of 18 but above the age of 10 and according to the criminal justice system, they go through a separate court which is the Juvenile court. The court system can sentence a juvenile for a small term basis or long term care program which can be termed as a correctional facility or center. Unlike the adult detention centers, these detention centers aren’t punitive and the juveniles are provided with facilities like education, skill training, health and counselling, recreation etc. under the supervision of the court in a secured environment. These centers basically act behind the rehabilitation of youth offenders. This project will focus on designing a development center with a healthy growing environment for the juveniles, to actually achieve or fulfill the purpose of the development center.
