dc.description.abstractAgainst the backdrop of debates on the relevance of good governance, this chapter examines the goals, agendas and implementation strategies of governance. First, it traces the evolution of the concept of good governance. According to proponents of good governance, the most important goal of governance is to stimulate economic development. Second, it examines the relationship between good governance and economic growth. In this connection, special emphasis is on the experiences of China, India and Bangladesh. Finally, it analyzes agendas and strategies for good governance.
