Citation

Abstract

In Bangladesh, a large proportion of people living in poverty are women. These women are often considered to be a burden by their families and married off very early, with no education and money. Many of them are forced to live in destitute conditions even after marriage as they become victims of harassment and abuse, especially for dowry. An unconditional access to education, marriage and reproduction by choice, and working to provide remain only a dream for the poor women of Bangladesh. Heal and Hope is a center for training and rehabilitation and attempts to be a home and simultaneously, an escape for the destitute women of Bangladesh. At Heal and Hope, women will be able to heal through environment and training. They will learn how to improve their skills in IT, agriculture, arts, cooking, pottery, sewing, handicrafts and Nakshi Kantha so that they may be able to help themselves out of poor conditions and lead an independent life whether or not they have a family.
