This internship program is a mandatory requirement for the completion of the Post Graduation Diploma in Knitwear Industry Management. This report is prepared based on my three months of hands-on experience while interning at United colors of Benetton. I had the privilege to work in the Product development and merchandising dept, Production Merchandising dept, Supply chain, Quality and compliance department which provided me with valuable insight into the cross functional activities of different departments in a liaison office. United colors of Benetton is globally renowned fashion brand with sub brands and sister concern. Benetton is widely known for its compact quality and durable products. During my internship, I closely observed the significant role Product development merchandisers play— they bridge communication between foreign brand and the vendors, facilitating profitable orders and contributing to the earning of foreign currency for Bangladesh. I realized that a merchandiser’s responsibility spans across all operations, requiring constant vigilance and follow-up with intra departments to ensure smooth production and shipment. I consider myself fortunate to have received this opportunity through BRAC University, which allowed me to deeply understand the process of garment production from order placement to final shipment. I learned about the knit wear industry and its upcoming challenges and growth in my career with important skills.en_US
