Abstract

This study examines the practices of learning English among Textile Engineering students in Bangladesh. It explores the various teaching methods used, impacts and challenges faced by students in acquiring English language skills within the context of their engineering education. The research aims to provide insights into the effectiveness of current learning strategies and propose recommendations to enhance language learning outcomes for these students. In the context of the rapid processes of globalization and the increasing demand for English among professionals, the given study focuses on the specific practices of learning English among Textile Engineering students in Bangladesh. Using a mixed-design approach, it draws on survey data from students and interviews with teachers. The described research investigates the impacts, and learning styles, and challenges of Textile Engineering students while studying English. It investigates measures taken in the classroom and at home through formal and informal measures, online self-studies and learning applications, and interaction with peers to determine how they get help and assistance to address the difficulties in their learning. While describing the specific practices, the study identifies common learners’ strategies and approaches, for instance, the use of the English language daily apps, participation in an English language club. It also provides detailed information on students’ attitudes and perceptions regarding the learning process. Furthermore, it talks about the importance of learning English for a better career for a student. The findings section will give a much clearer picture that how the English learning of textile engineering students can be designed, the curriculum and different approaches. Lastly, in the conclusion part, the study will show how the textile engineering students prefer to learn for a better outcome and also their opinions and experiences which are very important to improve English language learning for them.
