This internship report reflects my three-month experience as an intern in the HR department of The Daily Star. Although the business officially began on January 14, 1991, when Bangladesh finally became democratic, the co-founders, Syed Mohammad Ali and Mahfuz Anam, with the assistance of other major businesspeople of Bangladesh, established new precedents in independent journalism and freedom of the press. The purpose of the report is to look at the present employee training and development in The Daily Star, constantly address areas of concern, and make suggestions according to the scholarly findings. The report will be made on the basis of primary and secondary data. Such primary data relies upon my observation and personal experience throughout the internship period at the company and the discussions that I had with my supervisor and training coordinator. The other data will be collected by use of secondary sources that will comprise the company website, the annual reports, newspaper articles, and articles in academic journals on the HR practices in the media industry of Bangladesh. According to the report findings, the current employee training and development process is innovative and involves such training platforms as an online learning system developed in-house, but it is quite ad-hoc due to the lack of resources to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and the high-speed nature of the news environment. The results have been exploited to present requisite recommendations on how the practices of the workers should be enhanced.en_US
