Knitwear manufacturing operations at Aboni Knitwear Limited, Babylon Group

Abstract

The report was prepared during my internship in Aboni Knitwear Ltd., which is a company of Babylon Group and a main export-driven knitwear company, located in Savar, Dhaka. The company was founded in 2002, extending the product range of the group into knit garments. It is currently a 100% export-driven industry that has a monthly production capacity of 2,400,000 pieces with more than 3,300 employees. Aboni Knitwear has many international buyers, which makes it a reliable supplier in the world of apparel. The purpose of this report is to understand the manufacturing process of knit garments in the company. Which is why the report was divided into four major parts. The first part shows the overview of the company including all the major informations about the company. In the second part, I described my task accomplishment in each departments including HR, Lab, Sample, Marketing and Merchandising, and Supply Chain Management, with documentation of what I observed, learned, and assisted with in each area. In the third part, I talked about how I implemented my PGD-KIM knowledge into my internship, along with the challenges I identified and what I would advise the company to do to improve. And the final section is my conclusion on the overall learning experience and my personal and professional development. This was a great experience which helped me realize the importance of teamwork, quality, timing and how various departments interact in a real factory environment.
