Abstract

An undergraduate BRAC University student researched "ShopUp Empowering SME Sector" for this executive summary. The research examined how ShopUp, a popular Bangladeshi website, empowers SMEs. The study project included qualitative interviews and questionnaires to collect data and insights. The main goals were ShopUp's measures to help SMEs, SMEs' issues in Bangladesh, and ShopUp's impact on the SME sector. ShopUp helped SMEs flourish, according to the data. ShopUp provides digital marketing, inventory management, and finance to assist small companies in improving their online presence, simplifying operations, and boosting sales. SME owners said ShopUp's help boosted exposure, client reach, and the convenience of doing business. The survey also highlighted Bangladeshi SMEs' issues, such as lack of money, technology, and marketing. ShopUp's funding, digital tools, and professional assistance helped SMEs overcome these problems. The findings also showed ShopUp's sound social and economic effects. ShopUp helps SMEs develop, create jobs, and reduce poverty. According to the report, ShopUp empowers SMEs, which benefits marginalised communities and women entrepreneurs. According to the report, ShopUp should extend its service offerings, strengthen ties with financial institutions, and use technology to meet SMEs' changing demands. ShopUp's initiatives may also benefit from government and industry partnerships. The study concludes that ShopUp empowers Bangladeshi SMEs. ShopUp's platform and support services help SMEs overcome obstacles, expand their enterprises, and contribute to the country's socio-economic growth. This study may help policymakers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders promote SME development and economic inclusion in Bangladesh.
