Abstract
Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited is one of the largest multinational companies in Bangladesh. It is also the largest paint manufacturing company in the country, with more than 48% of the market share. Being such a large company, it employs thousands of people in Bangladesh, both at the managerial level and also at the operational level. Therefore, it is crucial for Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited to have an efficient and effective HR department. The HR policies, practices, and processes are what define a company as an employer and make the department effective.
Recruitment is one of the core functions of HR and the recruitment practices, trends, and processes can have an effect on the productivity, efficiency, and employee satisfaction of the overall organization. In this report, the recruitment practices and processes have been analysed to identify challenges that may arise due to existence of multiple practices throughout one system. In this report, the recruitment practices and processes have been analysed to identify problems that it may cause throughout the company.
In the first chapter, my role as an HR intern has been described. It also covers the scope of the job, and the contribution to the company as an HR intern. Moreover, it includes the learnings/experiences I had through this internship, and also the difficulties that one can face as an intern at Berger Paints Bangladesh. Lastly, it also includes recommendations for Berger on how they can make the internship program more holistic and eliminate the difficulties that interns can face.
The second chapter focuses on providing an overall view of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited as a company. It includes the background of the company and the nature of its business. It also focuses on the management, culture, marketing practices, financial performance etc. Lastly, it includes an analysis of the industry that Berger operates in using Porter’s 5 forces model and a SWOT analysis to provide an idea on the position of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited in the industry.
The third chapter includes the research on “Recruitment practices and process of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited.” In order to carry out this research, both secondary and primary data has been collected, and three officers from the HR department has been interviewed to collect the data. Using the data, the problems resulting from recruitment has been identified and an analysis of the possible solutions has been included in this report. All the data in this regard, is qualitative in nature.
