Abstract

Khadi, a traditional handspun heritage from Bangladesh, has not experienced any growth in recent years, regardless of being a symbol of national identity. To preserve authenticity and enhance the quality of khadi products, government agencies and private enterprises are establishing a specialized training center at Comilla. This center focuses on teaching traditional spinning techniques, natural dyeing processes, and intricate weaving patterns. This center offers a comprehensive residential program where trainees can immerse themselves fully in the khadi tradition, living and working alongside master artisans. Trainees, often from weaver families or economically disadvantaged backgrounds, receive stipends and guaranteed employment opportunities upon completion of their programs. The ultimate objective is to foster an environment where traditional knowledge merges with contemporary innovation, empowering khadi artisans to preserve this cultural treasure and adapt it for modern markets.
