Abstract

Wetlands appear as key landscapes in Bangladesh’s literary tapestry, possessing tremendous cultural and religious importance due to their extensive covering. However, the unavoidable march of modernization and cultural globalization in urban enclaves threatens to disrupt our link with our cultural origins’ inherent creativity. In sharp contrast, the Haor districts remain resilient, with a strong feeling of identity and an antiquity that deserves more recognition. This proposed project serves as a panoramic sanctuary, providing an emotional chance for people with roots in the Haor region to reconnect with their roots. It transforms into a cultural crossroads, where the written word, creative expressions, and sculptures find sanctuary within expertly organized museums and galleries, recounting the different histories of the Haor districts. The envisioned center pulsates with life, creating a vivid platform for the expression of local celebrations, traditional music, dance, and theater. These cultural exhibitions become not simply celebrations of variety, but also powerful manifestations of the Haor community’s lasting spirit. The project’s learning spaces are envisioned as lighthouses, attracting students from all around the country. These places will not only transmit education, but will also function as dynamic platforms for exhibiting skills, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment. Importantly, the doors of the center will be flung open to the public, inviting them on an experience journey of learning and inquiry, generating a deep emotional resonance that exceeds intellectual comprehension while protecting the wetland and ecology.
