As part of the PGD-KIM program at BIGD and Brac University, I completed an internship at Metro Knitting & Dyeing Mills Ltd., a diverse and integrated garment manufacturing company and a key of Panam Group, which started in 2000 and now runs multiple textile & garment units, including dyeing, washing, printing, and even a sustainable initiative like ETP plant. The group makes over 6.4 million garments each month, generates an annual revenue of approximately $1.1 billion and supplies big buyers like GU, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. MKDL is one of the largest Knit Composite Garments and Textile industries in Bangladesh, which is equipped with all kinds of modern machinery and other facilities. This report has been presented based on my observations and experience gathered from my company. The first chapter of the internship report offers a concise overview of the organization. The second chapter outlines my routine engagements inside various departments at MKDL, namely Dyeing & dyeing finishing, Knitting & knitting quality, Printing, Garments production, and Merchandising department. Each of which plays a critical role in the company's day-to-day operations. During the internship, I spent 10-12 days in each department to participate in their daily activities and contribute to specific tasks. The third chapter of this report links what I learned in PGD-KIM classes to factory life, such as using SMV tools, writing clear emails to buyers, balancing lines and checking compliance. After analyzing and evaluating each department, I have provided a few suggestions to improve the present status of the organization that is described briefly at the end of this report. Lastly, the fourth chapter provides a comprehensive summary of the entire coursework time, offering a concise picture of the whole experience. Overall, my time at Metro gave me strong skills in RMG and showed how smart planning and team effort help Bangladesh stay strong in global markets.
