This internship report gives an account of my three-month-long experience as an intern at the Central Desk of Dhaka Tribune, one of the leading English dailies in Bangladesh. It is divided into four chapters, each of which gives accounts of different aspects of that internship experience. In the first chapter, the objectives of an internship are discussed. In the same chapter, a brief history of Dhaka Tribune is given. The second chapter is the most important chapter of this report as it explains the nature of the tasks that I was assigned to do, the challenges I faced in completing those tasks, and the lessons I learnt from this internship. The chapter also contains a description of the working environment at Dhaka Tribune. Overall, this chapter reflects what an intern may experience while working at the Central Desk of Dhaka Tribune. In the third chapter, a connection is drawn between the tasks performed at the desk of Dhaka Tribune and the literary theories that I learned in different ENH courses. In this chapter, it is explained how theoretical knowledge can help one observe and understand the role played by newspapers in a society. This internship report is concluded highlighting the issues that were discussed in the preceding chapters. The report mentions some of the issues faced by the newspaper industry in Bangladesh and offers some recommendations.en_US
