| dc.description.abstract | In this study, leaves of the plant, Tacca Integrifolia, were tested to explore its antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticancer activity. GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) analysis and phytochemical screening were also performed in order to identify and analyze the chemical compounds present in this plant. Tacca Integrifolia leaves were collected from Sreemangal Upazila, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. The leaves were extracted with n-Hexane and methanol, and were used in experiments. Antioxidant activity of both extracts was performed using total phenolic content (TPC), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) methods. Antimicrobial test was assessed using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method and included four different types of gram-negative bacteria, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Anticancer activity of the extracts was conducted against two cell lines HeLa cell (Cervical cell line) and Vero cell (Healthy cell line). Results indicated strong antioxidant activity, strong antimicrobial activity, and moderate anticancer activity, as reflected by data obtained from tests for both methanol and n-Hexane extracts. | en_US |
