Abstract

Art, the outmost expression of human creativity demands careful cultivation. Both art practice and exhibition has been deeply rooted in the history of humankind. Creating spaces essential to nurturing, preserving and exhibiting works of art is an essential element in propagating art through human culture. The following chapters in this academic paper provides a thorough insight into the process of designing an institution dedicated to art practices. Inspired by the notion of the contemporary Bengali artist, Zainul Abedin, the idea of such an institute has been conceived. Zainul Abedin art institute constitutes of a museum housing the masterpieces of Abedin along with an Arts facility and public galleries to host exhibitions. Geographically located on the banks of Brahmaputra, the site holds great strength in its existing setting of both people and place. Finally, cohesive thinking with the existing setting deeply guided through the organizational aspect of the institute.
