Heritiera fomes is a common mangrove species carrying many novel phytochemicals and is traditionally used for its therapeutic activities. This study inspected the analgesic activity of different parts of ethanolic crude extracts of H. fomes using Swiss albino mice. The investigation included two methods- acetic acid- induced writhing method and formalin induced pain test. The crude extracts were administered in mice at a dose of 250mg/kg and 500mg/kg body weight to calculate percent inhibition and was compared with standard indomethacin drug. All the results were statistically significant (P<0.01) and the ethanol extract of H. fomes leaves and roots showed effective therapeutic result of 84.67% and 83.54% inhibition. Other extracts also showed assuasive analgesic activity in a dose dependent manner compared to the standard indomethacin drug. To conclude, overall investigation indicated that the ethanol extracts of different parts of H. fomes carry potential analgesic therapeutic agents to control pain.en_US
