dc.description.abstractThe banking sector of Bangladesh is getting competitive day by day. This competitive environment gave the existing banks lots of challenges. For winning the competition, every bank offers huge range of products and services. The banking activities are operated not only inside the country but also it has crossed the boundary. Today, the trade transactions get easier because of the involvement of the bank. Dhaka Bank Limited (DBL) a private sector commercial bank and The foreign trade activities of the bank is directly controlled and monitored by the Central Processing Centre, which is one of the units of the Head Office. The bank provides services to the clients with different instruments of trade operation, like-opening as well as advising LC; issuing different certificates i.e. NOC, shipping certificate/ guaranty, so on ; make as well as receiving the payments and documents on behalf of the client; The bank mainly deals with both export as well as import business. DBL undertakes Import Business in the form of both pre-import and post-import investment. Letter of Credit is a pre-import business, which is made in the form of commitment on behalf of the client to pay an agreed sum of money to the beneficiary of the Letter of Credit upon fulfillment of terms & conditions of the Trade. Under import activities there is back to Back division and the report is prepared based on that. The main responsibilities of these divisions are data entry, LC filling and posting, FDD checking, SWIFT message downloading, BB bank online posting etc. Furthermore the report showed the learning of the project, performance of the CPC, customer relationship as well as challenges along with some personal recommendation that should be applied for betterment. Finally, Dhaka Bank believe connectivity and good relationship is the key to success and it is proceeding forward with all its clients and stake holders in bold steps and contributing in national economy too by providing the instruments by trade operation.en_US
