In spite of being published more than a decade apart, these two novels are elaborately linked through their unified characters, narrative formats, as well as through their thematic concerns. Although The Candy House does not serve merely as a sequel; still it is an expansion of the imaginative as well as the structural universe of the novel A Visit from the Goon Squad.
