| dc.description.abstract | Road traffic congestion remains a global phenomenon that causes great problems in the cities of the world; especially developing countries, resulting in massive delay, unpredicted travel times, increased fuel consumption, man-hour and monetary loss. The issue has arisen from poorly planned road network and traffic management, resulting in unbearable traffic jams. It is prevalent greatly during weekends, public holidays and periods of major activities. Major causes of the congestion include lane indiscipline, high traffic density, low road network carrying capacity, poor traffic management and support infrastructure such as lay-bye, and low response to removal of broken down and crashed vehicles. This paper gives an intelligent solution for tackling the issue of traffic congestion using parallel algorithm with real time data feeding by re-routing. | en_US |
