Design and implementation of incentive based smart plastic bottle disposal system

Citation

Abstract

This project presents a comprehensive solution to address the growing environmental concerns associated with plastic waste. Through image processing and machine learning algorithms, the system accurately identifies plastic bottles, facilitating their proper disposal. By integrating microcontrollers and motors, this system encourages responsible disposal practices among users by automating the detection and categorization of plastic bottles into respective trash compartments. IoT technology records the weight of the plastic bottle, associating it with the user as virtual currency in the cloud. Users are incentivized through this rewards system which they can conveniently track via a mobile application. The reward points can be redeemed for various benefits, promoting sustainability. Real-time data tracking and IoT integration further enhance efficiency of the system. At its core, this innovative system seeks to revolutionize the way we interact with plastic waste, fostering a cleaner, greener, and more conscientious society.
