Comparative study on different methods to determine series resistance of PV module

Citation

Abstract

In recent times, the area of the photovoltaic based system is increasing as it is a natural method of converting solar energy into electrical energy without emitting dangerous radiation using PV modules. A PV module is comprised of different parameters and series resistance is one of the most important parameters. A PV module with less RS value indicates its efficiency, thus for designing a PV module it is essential to choose a RS extraction method which provides least value. Considering this fact, this work is made to extract the series resistance of photovoltaic modules using different experimental and theoretical methods on fifteen different modules from three different companies and to analyze the results in a comparative approach to identify which method is better fitted. Bar chart and several error analyses have been done to give a complete overview of the work and to testify the claims.
