In the wake of modern location and context awareness applications, the importance of indoor localization has become inherently undeniable. It is needless to mention that the requirement to accurately track and retrieve positional data has been ever growing with the advent of advanced robotic vehicles and mobile embedded systems. In spite of their incremental innovations, contemporary indoor positioning systems (IPS) suffer from several systematic drawbacks. In addition to high cost of implementation and complex hardware requirement, today's IPSs fail to provide meter level precision. This paper proposes a unique indoor localization and positioning system that makes use of Wi-Fi networks with repeaters. We have developed a system that assesses the received signal strength indication (RSSI) value, compares and validates it with a list of historical data and intelligently pinpoints the location visually on a map using a definitive algorithm. Our non-invasive solution approach aims to curtail the stringent requirements, lack of portability, inaccuracy and other hindrances of the IPSs available today and make indoor localization a lot easier task.
