Abstract
This study starts by briefly introducing the colonial past of Bangladesh and then gives the
personal experience of the author that is influenced by colonization. The paper then tries to
investigate the causes behind the motivations of poets- Kaiser Haq and Fakrul Alam, who have
acquired worldwide recognition for their creative work, particularly in the field of poetry. In
addition to this, it tries to investigate the social factors that prevent poets from Bangladesh from
advancing to higher ground, in the contemporary postcolonial period, where other countries by
this time have adopted their brands of English and used them fruitfully. Additionally, it
investigates whether or not it is rational for poets from Bangladesh to compose poetry in a
language such as English. The paper concludes by giving solutions to each chapter- why Kaiser
Haq and Fakrul Alam are celebrated for their work, how Bangladesh can advance in creating
verses in English, and the rationality behind using English while composing poetry for the
Bangladeshi poets.
