Abstract

The importance of sustainable procurement and supply chain practice in addressing the problems of resource scarcity, climate change, and environmental degradation has gained more attention in recent years. This paper sought to understand the factors that influence the intention of professionals to adopt SP and SC practices in Bangladesh. Based on the scholars' studies and to further research the key factors influencing adopting sustainable procurement and supply chain practices, this paper proposes a conceptual model of sustainable supply chain management to examine the organizational, regulatory, economic, market, and knowledge factors. Survey data from 117 supply chain professionals was analyzed statistically, and six hypotheses were established to assess the adoption intention of supply chain professionals. The regression model indicates that economic and organizational factors are statistically significant. Cost reduction, tax exemption, financial incentives advantage, top management's commitment, pressure from investors, shareholders, upstream and downstream partners, and enhanced product or service quality are significantly responsible for influencing adoption intention and successful implementation of sustainable procurement and supply chain practices.
