Effective Teaching Method for EAP courses in Bangladeshi Private Universities: A comparative study

Abstract

The remaining researches in English Language Teaching focus on the appropriateness of the EFL courses. Some studies focuses on different teaching Methods and its outcome. One of the most discussed topics is regarding GTM (Grammar Translation Method) or CLT (Communicative Language Teaching). These works and its participants are from primary and higher secondary education. These participants are yet to realize the significance of making suggestion on their learning. In last few years Private universities are growing in number in Bangladesh. The each discipline of these universities is being guided by the UGC (University Grant Commission). However, suggestions are given by the NCTB (National Curriculum and Textbook Board) on the curriculum of ELT in primary and higher secondary education. Currently, many private universities are offering EAP (English for Academic Purpose) courses to prepare their students for their further academic program. This paper discusses on the effective teaching method for EAP courses in these private universities. The study comprises a comparative study between two EAP courses from two different private universities of Bangladesh.
