Abstract

The completion of this internship report follows a three-month internship with Dhaka Tribune. The objective of this internship is to observe the practical application of theoretical knowledge in the department of social media at Dhaka Tribune. This report's purpose is to examine the distinction between theory and practice. The first chapter is a discussion of the concept of digital journalism and the role of social media in digital journalism along with its impact on readers. In the second chapter I describe the history of Dhaka Tribune and the role it plays in a timely dissemination of news by the use of its social media wing. The third chapter is an illustration of the practice of digital journalism by a young intern. The fourth chapter examines the distinction between theory and practice by connecting my work with the academic knowledge that I gained during my undergraduate studies.
