Abstract

COVID-19 has made people all over the world susceptible to other diseases caused by various microorganisms. One of them is caused by a fungus called mucormycosis or black fungus. Together with diabetes and COVID-19, it creates the perfect mechanism to make a person less immune to other diseases. This review concerns with how becoming infected with COVID-19 makes way for diabetes to either occur or worsen and for the fungi to be opportunistic and infect a person who is already immunocompromised. There are comparisons made from one country to another having all of the above diseases altogether. The role that iron plays in declining the condition of combination of diseases is also mentioned.
