Abstract

This research paper attempts to find out the methods, strategies and techniques which are used in Bangla medium schools and English medium schools to teach writing skill. It also investigates whether those strategies differ between mediums or not. Apart from this, it examines students' writing difficulties and their mistakes along with the measures. For data collection and data analysis, the researcher observed four different classes from four schools, looked at four teachers' interviews and assets 3 scripts. After data collection and analysis, the researcher found that the strategies, techniques and methods for teaching English writing differ between the mediums and Bangla medium students face much more difficulties in learning these skills compared to English medium students. The way of giving feedback for correcting the errors of Bangla medium students are not effective. The paper concluded by suggesting adopting the methods and techniques by Bangla medium students that are used in English medium schools to teach English writing.
