Coal is regarded as one of the world's most precious natural resources. It is the world's largest source of electricity, and the majority of the countries rely on it as their principal source of power to create massive amounts of energy. It also serves as the fuel for the production of metals and substances such as iron and cement. Although, extracting coal from the ground is a difficult task that results in thousands of deaths worldwide every year. Roof collapse, rock explosions, flames and eruptions, and poisonous gases that directly harm their lungs, inflicting severe lung ailments like pneumoconiosis and silicosis are all problems that miners encounter. In order to address this problem, this paper provides an IoT-based cost efficient system that acts as a life-saving tool for miners. Several sensors identify toxic or natural gas types that might hurt them if they encounter the miners. They also deliver real-time data on mine temperature and air pressure to a user-friendly application for monitoring. Furthermore, routers are installed throughout the mine to detect miners who seek assistance in dangerous situations, as it is challenging to trace human presence in such locations. All these attributes can be continuously monitored using our implemented application that updates information concurrently.
