| dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores the impact and challenges of introducing blockchain technology into procurement and supply chain management within power transmission utilities, focusing on Power Grid Bangladesh PLC as a case study. Given the limited existing research, an exploratory research methodology was adopted to investigate the current state of blockchain adoption, its potential impacts, and the specific challenges faced by power transmission utilities. Blockchain is recognized for enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency in procurement, particularly in critical infrastructure sectors. The research identifies opportunities for blockchain, such as reducing fraud, increasing data security, and securing confidential procurement information vulnerable to cyber-attacks. However, challenges such as technical readiness, organizational resistance, and regulatory barriers are also addressed. This thesis proposes actionable steps for Power Grid Bangladesh PLC to adopt blockchain in procurement, highlighting its long-term potential for sustainability, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency in the energy sector. | en_US |
