Abstract
In Demand Side Management (DSM), 5G revolution will add various features for monitoring and controlling. Smart DSM is depending on smart electricity metering. Now, information technology is getting integrated for making the metering section more monitorable and controllable. The present prepaid metering scheme is connected to server using GSM network. It creates an inherent dependence on mobile companies. Moreover, there is always an operational (recurring) cost to maintain different kinds of information exchange. Therefore, it will be beneficial for the utility organizations to develop a low-cost, fast and portable communication system. In this research, backbone development of metering network has been designed for optical fiber communication. The real-time response along with lossless data injection has been remarkable. For small local area, this optical fiber communication system integration may assist in upcoming zone to zone wireless IoT phenomena.
