Abstract

This paper presents the comparative cost analysis of different renewable energy sources along with traditional diesel generator for base transceiver stations. Base transceiver stations are the equipment in the cellular system which need to run 24/7 without being disturbed by any sort power outages. It is found that all the operators in Bangladesh use diesel generators during power outage. The target is to compare the feasibility of using alternative power sources to minimize the cost of the system, minimizing carbon emission and reducing the dependency on the fossil fuel. In this paper, the previous and recent data of diesel, solar and fuel cell power sources are analyzed. Finally, a new model is proposed to combine the sources with backup of diesel generator which can minimize the cost and fulfill the target.
