Design of an electricity efficient street light system

Citation

Abstract

This project focuses on building an automated street light system where street lights would adjust their intensity based on the detection of objects in the streets with the help of motion detection sensors. In the current street light system, the lights get turned on manually after the sun goes down. We notice that even when there are no vehicles or pedestrians on the street the lights stay at full intensity which is considered a waste of electricity. If we take into consideration a whole year the electricity loss mounts up to a huge number. We want to build a system where light intensity controlling using sensors would save unnecessary usage of electricity.
