| dc.description.abstract | In recent years, the integration of mobile applications into educational practices has significantly changed the landscape of language teaching, specifically in the developing countries like Bangladesh. This paper aims to investigate the reason behind the popularity of app-based learning among undergraduate students for developing the English language learning skills. By conducting mixed method research, this paper investigates how mobile applications improve English language skills, and impact on learner motivation and engagement as well as discusses the integration of apps with traditional methods in the context of Bangladesh. The findings show that learners perceive mobile applications as a supplement resource for developing their English language skills, with interactive features like instance feedback, gamification, subtitles, self-assessment, autocorrection, translator, voice typing, communications tools and AI tools being specifically impacted on the learner's overall language learning experience. Moreover, challenges like excessive use of technology, lack of native language and cultural context support in the content as well as the need for app integration in Bangladesh is also identified. | en_US |
