dc.description.abstract | Chevron Bangladesh is a subsidiary of the US energy giant – the Chevron Corporation. The company established its presence in Bangladesh as one of the only partners to develop and drive the energy sector in the country, specifically by refining natural gas resources for numerous uses. It is the largest foreign direct investor in Bangladesh and is also one of the largest tax payers in the country. Chevron Bangladesh is headquartered in Dhaka with its major manufacturing facilities in Sylhet. It is known to employ some of the best minds of the country to provide best-in-class services.
I was appointed as an intern in the Staffing team of the HR Operations function. This team in particular was charged with performing core HR tasks such as recruitment & selection, vendor management, stakeholder relations among others. During my internship period, I was on job rotation, learned and performed all of the necessary tasks in the function and was given certain responsibilities in the form of projects.
Some of the major projects I undertook included developing an integrated HR website to provide every kind of people related services over the net, cooperating with Petro Bangla to develop an audit depository, formulating an HR documentation process for expatriate personnel and creating a process for service award configuration.
As Chevron Bangladesh is one of the largest multinationals in the country, it looks to recruit people that can take the company into a bigger future. As part of the report, a research was conducted to understand the perspective of young professionals towards Chevron as an employer. Some of the objectives were to understand how well the company has branded itself, what expectations these young professionals have from a prospective career at Chevron and how well equipped they are for being selected into the Chevron Bangladesh family. | en_US |
