Analytical performance evaluation of a wireless mobile communication system with space diversity
Abstract
A theoretical analysis is presented to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance of a wireless communication system with space diversity to combat the effect of fading. Multiple receiving antennas with single transmitting antenna are considered with slow and fast fading. Performance results are evaluated for a number of receive antennas and the improvement in receiver performance is evaluated at a specific error probability (10-8 and 10-9). It is found that diversity offers a significant improvement in the receiver sensitivity for both the cases of fast and slow fading.
