dc.description.abstract | Chevron Corporation is a multinational American establishment that deals in the worldwide energy sector. Active in more than 180 countries, it specializes in all aspect of the oil, gas, and geothermal energy industries, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing, sales and power generation. Chevron Bangladesh started its operations in Bangladesh in the late 1980s with the Jalalabad project. It produces pure natural gas from Bibiyana, Jalalabad and Moulavi Bazar gas fields in Sylhet and its only customer is Petrobangla, the national oil company. Currently its Bibiyana block is going through an extension with a target to reach full capacity gas production. The future for Chevron Bangladesh lies within its unexplored blocks and maybe in alternative energy sources as well. The Human Resource department of Chevron Bangladesh is responsible for being involved in employee recruitment and development. In order to do so, it has five divisions lead by the HR Director- Staffing & Expat Admin, Operations, Business Partners, Total Remuneration and Projects. During my internship, I was part of the staffing & expat admin team assisting in recruitment, payroll, expat admin and other Chevron HR activities. During my internship period, I was a part of the “Graduate Petrotech Hiring 2013” event organized by Chevron Bangladesh every year to take in brand new engineers in the Asset Development department. My role was to plan the entire 5 step interview process and ensure its smooth execution. In doing so, I was responsible for its scheduling, interview pack preparation, informing candidates, monitoring and assessing candidate behavior. The significance of each aspect of the Graduate Petrotech Hiring has been analyzed in the report along with some recommendations on improvement in the future. Overall recommendations on the HR function have also been provided to end the report. | |
