This thesis investigates the transformative potential of CRISPR-Cas9 technology in the realm
of cardiac repair. Since cardiovascular illnesses are the leading cause of morbidity and
mortality globally, innovative strategies are necessary. Acknowledged for its precision in gene
editing, CRISPR has potential as a therapeutic approach for cardiac tissue damage and
dysfunction. This research delves into the molecular aspects of CRISPR-mediated
modifications, emphasising their role in altering significant genes associated with heart
regeneration and repair pathways. This study meticulously reviews the literature to shed light
on the efficacy and safety of CRISPR therapies in promoting cardiomyocyte regeneration. This
paper aims to add to the expanding discourse on therapeutic applications of CRISPR
technology, ultimately advancing an understanding of the technology's potential to improve
heart repair methods and ultimately reduce the burden of cardiovascular disorders.
