Comparative analysis of Prime Bank and other 2nd generation banks: Camel and Basel iii accord compliance

This report provides a comprehensive analysis of my working tenure in Prime Bank PLC and the report focuses on operational, financial and strategic practices that were observed during my internship period. Additionally, it also includes the detailed project on Comparative analysis of Prime Bank PLC with other second-generation banks in the segment of CAMEL Rating and BASEL III accord. This report has three primary sections, summary of internship experience, an organizational analysis and the project part. The first part covers my experience of internship and the variety of contributions to the bank and the skill and knowledge I acquire during the tenure. It also shows the advantages of my internship for m academic and professional growth. The second part start with the overview of the Prime Bank PLC, its vision, mission, corporate philosophy and their board range of products and services. The analysis also shows the banks management practices includes organogram of the bank, leadership style, human resource planning process and selection process and their marketing strategies. this section also highlights their financial performance, operational management and their information system practices which highlights Prime Banks competitive advantage in the market. It also describes SWOT analysis and Porters five forces analysis to highlight their external and internal environments. The third section explores the project work which focus on Prime Banks financial performance in comparison with other second-generation banks through CAMEL rating and Basel III accord. The CAMEL rating is a detailed framework that evaluates financial health of an organizational by evaluating capital adequacy ratio, asset quality, management efficiency, earning efficiency and liquidity ratio. Furthermore, Basel III accords minimum requirements are reviewed including how Prime Bank manages its capital to follow the guidelines. The section also includes the comparison of Basel III by other second-generation banks. The report concludes with the summary of key findings including Prime Banks strengths and the areas of improvements in the context of Basel III and risk management system. Finally, the recommendations for Prime Banks improvement in operational efficiency and strategic orientation.
