"Document fraud poses significant security risks and can result in unauthorized en-
tries into a country, as well as manual verification, a time-consuming process that
raises concerns about the privacy of travelers as their data could be exposed dur-
ing the verification process. Blockchain technology has advanced the concept of
Self-sovereign identity (SSI), a user-controlled and secure identity management sys-
tem made possible through distributed ledger technology. This study describes how
blockchain-based SSI systems can be used where passengers can carry traveling
information digitally and securely, which provides users with control over digitized
personal information as per use. It is a user-consent and privacy-controlled platform
where users share the least amount of information for verification. The adoption of
this system, a digital travel pass credential wallet, will display traveler’s ability to
use digitized travel credentials that are valid on all conveyance systems. With this
system, travelers won’t need several cards or hard copies; rather, they will have it
digitally and control their data. Overall, by eliminating the need for physical docu-
ments and relying on standardized digital credentials, the SSI framework simplifies
the travel pass verification process and enhances efficiency for both individuals and
verifiers."
