I is a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) located in the exon 9 of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene of the immune system-related cells and tissues of placenta with paracrine effect. Recent research has concentrated on the potential contribution of VDR gene variations, the SNP TaqI, BsmI and ApaI, to the development of conditions like different cancers, autoimmune diseases, preterm delivery, low-birth-weight preeclampsia, and infection susceptibility. These genetic variations might impact the stability and effectiveness of translation and transcription in VDR gene. A single base shift (T to C) in codon 352, at the 3' end of the gene, is the TaqI single nucleotide polymorphism. However, there is lack of information to explain the relation of mother’s SNPs on fetal outcome, requiring more attention from researchers to develop beneficial approaches. Therefore, this review was aimed to evaluate the association of mothers’ SNP of TaqI with risk of preterm birth and birth weight.en_US
